Go for it Pep – Manchester City would be wise to splash £40m on this highly versatile teenager

Go for it Guardiola – Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon will be a solid addition to Manchester City

Manchester City have reportedly entered the race to sign Fulham wonder kid Ryan Sessegnon, who has deservedly attracted attention from some of the top clubs in the Premier League. He has been an absolute delight for the Championship outfit and has played a pivotal role in helping them get to the 4th spot in the league standings, meaning they are very much eligible to secure top-flight promotion for the upcoming season.

The 17-year-old sensation has scored 14 goals and provided 4 assists for the Cottagers. These numbers look similar to those of an attacker and although Sessegnon has played on the left-wing on certain occasions this season, it is important to note that he is primarily a left-back.

In fact, one might even call him the epitome of a modern-day full-back. He has always been a player who can attack and defend with equal gusto and his strength lies in the fact that he knows when to do what.

Sessegnon is estimated to cost about £40m and although he has quite a lot of clubs interested in him, City might actually win the battle to sign him. The price certainly won’t be a problem for them and they are quite capable of offering him a tantalizing deal.

Moreover, the fact that Pep Guardiola is in charge of the club will definitely prove to be a major factor for a young star like Sessegnon. The City gaffer is not only a brilliant manager but he is also quite adept at developing and nurturing young talent.

In fact, one must credit him where it is due and without his influence, Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane would not have reached such great heights this season. Furthermore, given Sessegnon’s versatility, he could slot in either as a left-back or a left-winger for City.

The champions-elect will most certainly need a solid left-back for the next term since Guardiola has resorted mainly to using the likes of Oleksandr Zinchenko, Phil Foden and Danilo in that position for a good majority of the current season.

And, when the situation requires, Sessegnon can also fill in for Sterling up front. Given his attacking power, the youngster will score goals irrespective of which position he plays in and he will undoubtedly prove to be an excellent addition to the City squad.

As far as the player is concerned, the chance to play for a powerhouse side like the Sky Blues will definitely help him progress further in his career.
