Why Kylian Mbappe is the true heir to Messi and Ronaldo’s throne

Kylian Mbappe has been truly sensational since breaking into the football world. The 19-year-old has been making a name for himself since his impressive displays for former club Monaco. Mbappe came into prominence at an early age, starring for the youth academy at Bondy before moving to Monaco, where he made his professional debut in 2015.

The youngster scored a total of 16 goals in 41 appearances for the French outfit, earning himself a move to French champions Paris Saint-Germain.

PSG bought him for a reported fee of around £166million, making him the second most expensive signing ever, behind fellow PSG teammate Neymar. He is also the most expensive teenager in the history of football.

Mbappe made his senior France debut last year, before which he represented them at under-17 and under-19 levels. At the 2018 Fifa World Cup in Russia, Mbappe became the youngest French player to score at a World Cup, after Thierry Henry. He also became the first teenager to score in a World Cup final since the days of Brazilian icon Pele.

Mbappe generally plays as a striker but he is also capable of playing on the right flank, as he so often did with both PSG and France this year. The 19-year-old is a goal machine who only seems to get better and better each time he steps onto the field.

The former Monaco striker made a total of 24 appearances in the Ligue 1 last season, scoring 13 goals and providing 8 assists.
