Why this 23-year-old midfield sensation could fulfill his potential at Rangers under Gerrard

According to a report by the Daily Star, Rangers are interested in a move for 23-year-old Kilmarnock sensation Jordan Jones this summer.

Since his appointment as the Gers manager, Steven Gerrard has been quite active in the ongoing transfer window. After all, he has a mammoth task ahead of him with his new club.

The former Liverpool captain will look to re-establish Rangers as a dominant force in Scottish football once again. But given the circumstances, it goes without saying that the road will be tough.

Gerrard must overthrow Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic from the Scottish Premiership throne. Interestingly enough, the duo has been through several ups and downs during their time together at Liverpool. And now, it remains to be seen if the student can beat the master.

Nevertheless, this is a crucial summer for Gerrard as Rangers need new faces in several departments. That said, do Rangers need a player like Jones right now?

The 23-year-old prefers to play on the left-wing and over the course of the last season, he scored 4 goals in the Scottish top-flight. In fact, his prolific displays helped him earn a cap for Northern Ireland and surely, the prospect of joining Rangers would appeal to the youngster.

The Ibrox outfit are undergoing a massive reshuffle with Gerrard at the helm and it seems they are destined for bigger and better things next season.

And to help them in their quest of ending Celtic’s dominant reign, Jones would definitely prove to be resourceful. He was instrumental for Kilmarnock last term and he even put in some eye-catching performances against Rodgers’ men.

Also, at 23 years of age, he has a long career ahead of him. Moving to Rangers now would not only be a great move for the club but it would also help Jones to take his career to the next level.

As mentioned earlier, the Gers have been quite busy in the transfer window and have already made wide attacker Jamie Murphy’s loan move from Brighton permanent.

Furthermore, fellow new signing Scott Arfield is also comfortable playing as a winger, meaning Gerrard has quite a few quality options at hand. But Jones is a seasoned Scottish Premiership star and his presence would go a long way in strengthening Rangers’ attack ahead of the new season.

In addition to that, Gerrard has a flair for nurturing younger players and he could help Jones reach his true potential at Rangers.
