Why this Arsenal target could be an excellent signing for Liverpool

Why this £53million-rated Croatian midfield maestro could be an excellent signing for Liverpool

Premier League clubs Arsenal and Liverpool have recently shown a keen interest in the services of Real Madrid’s midfield sensation Luka Modric, as per Spanish publication El Gol Digital.

The Gunners, in particular, are desperate to lure the former Tottenham midfielder to the Emirates next season in a £53m deal, as they chime in for a potential squad overhaul this summer. However, they could face stiff competition from their Premier League rivals.

Luka Modric, who has struggled with injuries and momentum throughout the course of this season, could leave the club in the summer. And Liverpool are also looking for a midfielder in the transfer market, following the departure of Philipe Coutinho to Barcelona earlier this year.

The Reds have been one of the best teams in English football this campaign, largely thanks to their impressive attack. The likes of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, and Sadio Mane have lifted the Merseyside giants to an impressive season so far.

That being said, however, Jurgen Klopp’s team might be in danger of losing their attacking potency next season due to a significant lack of creative midfielders. Even though the Reds have the services of quality English midfielders Adam Lallana and Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain at hand, none of them quite have the potential to fill the void left behind by Coutinho.

Furthermore, key midfielder Emre Can could also be on the verge of leaving Anfield next season, meaning the Reds will be in dire need for a central midfielder. Although Naby Keita’s arrival will strengthen their forces, Modric can be an ideal fit for Klopp’s team.

Known for his industrialism in the centre of the park, Modric is someone who can provide the necessary creative spark in the attacking third. While he may not possess the same qualities as compared to Coutinho, Modric definitely has the experience and dynamism to create a huge difference at Liverpool next season.

Furthermore, his previous exposure to playing in the Premier League will help him quickly get used to the pace of English football. The midfield duo of Modric and Keita could add an extra dimension to Liverpool’s style of play and therefore, it would be interesting to see these two players fare alongside each other – provided the Reds manage to lure in the Croatian international to Anfield this summer.
