Why This Argentine From Serie A Could Be A Good Addition To West Ham

Roberto Pereyra 1

West Ham United are looking to add depth and quality to their squad after they missed out on Champions qualification last season by a whisker. Slaven Bilic would want to make sure that the same mistakes aren’t repeated next season and they can mount a proper challenge towards the top four. With Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United all getting new managers this summer and Arsenal the masters in qualifying for the Champions League, its not going to be an easy task for the Hammers next year. West Ham are already looking quite busy this summer having signed Sofiane Feghouli and Havard Nordtveit on free transfers.

One would argue that with the likes Dimitri Payet, Lanzini and Carroll on their pay roll, the team isn’t too far away from having that perfect squad. However Bilic is well aware of the interest that Payet is generating around Europe right now, therefore one of Bilic’s most important tasks could be keeping the French player away from the clutches of the big clubs. The atmosphere around the club is at an all time high due to an excellent last season and the confirmation of the move to the Olympic Stadium. If results don’t go their way, the fans could quickly turn frustrated leaving the manager helpless in the middle, hence it is very important that he manages to get in some quality players to the club, who help West Ham carry on from where they left off in May.

Roberto Pereyra 2

One player who is much in demand right now is the Juventus playmaker Roberto Pereyra, with clubs like AS Roma, Watford, Swansea and Zenit St. Petersburg looking to sign the player this summer. However it is West Ham United which has stolen the march on other clubs and is leading the race currently for his signature. The Argentine international has found opportunities hard to come by at Juventus and the Hammers are looking to offer him a chance to restore his career once again. He only made 15 appearances for the club last season due to his injury troubles. He was excellent for the Old Lady in the previous season and many fans associated with the club that he would now become the pivotal point of attack with players like Andrea Pirlo and Arturo Vidal leaving the club. However he has had bad luck with injuries, which has reduced his opportunities to the minimum.

Pereyra is a versatile midfielder who is known for his excellent technique and dribbling abilities. The Argentine can play in various midfield positions across the front line. The 25-year-old has 10 international caps with Argentina. He is one player who can definitely bring a lot of quality to this West Ham team if the deal does go through within the next two months. West Ham have two players who can play in the hole behind the striker i.e. Payet and Lanzini and they also have two right wingers in the form of Feghouli and Antonio but the squad is badly craving for a left winger, which could prove to be crucial against the big teams. Pereyra will walk into the starting XI of the Hammers with the quality and experience he possess.
