Why this Derby County star would be a perfect signing for Leeds especially after Ayling’s unfortunate absence

Why should Leeds United Andre Wisdom from Derby County

According to Leeds Live, Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa could turn to Arsenal’s Carl Jenkinson or Derby County’s Andre Wisdom to solve his full-back crisis in the team. The Peacocks are short on depth in that department, especially after a long-term injury to Luke Ayling.

Stuart Dallas played there against Wigan Athletic and struggled a bit as he is more comfortable on the left-hand side. Hence, it is clear that the Championship outfit do need a right-back as a backup to Ayling, even if he comes back by January.

And getting Wisdom from Pride Park could be an ideal solution for the Peacocks. Here’s why:

Andre Wisdom – Ideal deal for Leeds United

Andre Wisdom is a versatile defender who can every position across the back-line. However, his predominant position is right-back. He is a pure manager’s delight as he can be deployed in any role. One can almost always expect a positive output from him.

The 25-year-old has only played four games for the Rams in the Championship (one from the bench), however, his numbers are impressive. He has made tackles, interceptions and clearances at a rate of 1.5, 1.5 and 1.3 respectively, which is pretty decent for a right full-back.

Furthermore, he possesses a pass accuracy of 71.8% with an average of 39 passes per game. That means he is not only a one-dimensional defensive-minded player, but also very progressive when in possession.

With Jadon Bogle doing a fine job at right-back, Wisdom is not able to get into the playing eleven under Frank Lampard. Hence, it may not be surprising if the 25-year-old looks for options in January.

And Leeds United should take this opportunity and sign the ex-Liverpool player. Marcelo Bielsa will then have the strength in depth in all the defensive positions. With Ayling injured and the Peacocks also short on centre-backs, Wisdom can fill in wherever required and be a very good squad member. It will help the team make an enhanced push for direct Premier League promotion.

All in all, it would make sense for the Championship side to sign the Derby defender in the January transfer window.
