Why this out-of-favour 18-year-old Inter forward could be a perfect addition for Liverpool

Liverpool are reportedly chasing Inter Milan starlet Andrea Pinamonti, who has also attracted interest from Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea.

Rising through Inter’s youth ranks, Pinamonti made his first-team debut in December 2016 in the Europa League. Since then, he has only gone on to represent Inter four more times.

Currently, the 18-year-old is behind Mauro Icardi, Eder, Matias Vecino and Yann Karamoh in the pecking order. Due to Icardi’s sizzling form in front of goal, Pinamonti has found first-team opportunities hard to come by, with the forward only managing 13 minutes in Serie A.

Having been frozen out by Spalleti, should Liverpool make a move for the promising Pinamonti?

The Italian has shown a keen eye for goal from a young age, as he progressed through Inter Milan’s youth ranks. Despite being only 18-years-old, Pinamonti’s ability in possession and a keen eye for goal make him a special young striker.

Pinamonti is nominally a striker but often drops deep to receive the ball from the midfielders. He can also play behind the striker, create chances and also finish them with aplomb. The 18-year-old is an impressive dribbler and is never scared of taking a player on. His quick feet and intelligence to find spaces behind the defenders add value.

The Italian’s strength is his keen eye for goal and the movement on and off the ball which allows him to create chances. He knows to bring the wingers into the game, as his movement allows them to be at their creative best. He also possesses good accuracy and power in his strikes.

Liverpool have a fantastic striker in Roberto Firmino, who has been the quintessential player for Jurgen Klopp. Firmino’s game is much more than scoring goals as the Brazilian’s movement sees him create chances for his teammates. However, Firmino’s understudies are Danny Ings and young Dominic Solanke, the duo which is yet to get a fair share of chances from Klopp.

While Ings has had a terrible two years due to injuries, Solanke is yet to hit the ground running at Anfield. This has seen Firmino single-handedly shoulder the responsibility, allowing him almost no break at all.

Pinamonti’s arrival would reduce the burden on Firmino. The 18-year-old is one of the hottest prospects in Serie A football and would surely be a good addition to Liverpool’s ranks.
