Why West Ham could bag themselves a coup by landing former Arsenal gem for free

Why West Ham is an ideal destination for Jack Wilshere

West Ham are close to agreeing on a deal with free agent Jack Wilshere. The midfielder, who left Arsenal for free will be keen to revitalise his career at the London stadium and get back to his best. The Hammers are also in need of a creative midfielder in their squad under new manager Manuel Pellegrini.

The 26-year-old has all the attributes to become a key part of West Ham’s revival next season after stuttering through last season. He will add some much-needed fabricating qualities to the squad. The loss of Manuel Lanzini through injury means the club must procure someone like Wilshere to fill in those boots.

Let us take a look at the strengths the player possesses and how will he fit in at the London Stadium.

Player Analysis – Jack Wilshere

Injuries aside, Jack Wilshere is one of the best ball-playing midfielders in England. His ability to carve out chances from almost impossible situations is something to behold.

Jack Wilshere

The former Arsenal man is quite capable of picking out key passes, play neat triangles and also make late runs into the box to become a goal-threat.

In addition to this, his low centre of gravity allows him to turn past defenders with ease, enabling him to keep possession in the midfield. One of Wilshere’s strengths is to keep it simple with the ball and not to try fancy things despite his creative abilities from improbable angles.

In Pellegrini’s 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-1-1 formation, he can be deployed as one of the central midfielders or as a No.10 behind the striker. The Chilean might play him as a No.10 to allow him more freedom to cause menace for the opposition defence.

Verdict

There is no doubt whatsoever that Wilshere will make a huge impact at the London stadium. West Ham fans must be delighted that they are getting a creative gem in their squad next season.

The 26-year-old has the ability to single-handedly turn the game on its head and the Hammers are getting him for free. This is probably a deal made in heaven for the East London club.

West Ham are a historic club, so Wilshere himself will be thinking that he may get a chance to make up for lost time if he performs well here.
