Wilder To Make 8 Changes – Predicted 3-5-2 Sheffield United Line-Up To Face Ipswich Town

Predicted Sheffield United Line-up To Face Ipswich Town In The FA Cup

It would be fair to say that Sheffield United’s form has been mixed of late; a bitterly disappointing home defeat to Bolton followed swiftly by a good draw at Derby County in the league and now they head off on an FA Cup adventure against an out-of-sorts Ipswich Town.

The Tractor Boys’ home form is alright to be fair, but that will not worry Chris Wilder though as he may rest a few key players given that he has acknowledged that he needs more players to beef up his squad.

With that in mind, Simon Moore, George Baldock, Enda Stevens, Chris Basham, Jack O’Connell, John Lundstram, Mark Duffy and Leon Clarke may all possibly give this one a miss and so a much-changed line-up could look something like this one, again in the usual 3-5-2 formation:

Probable Sheffield United XI

GK – Jamal Blackman

Actually played from the start of the season as No.1 anyway and will most likely come in for Simon Moore who has been between the sticks lately. Another chance to impress.

CB – Cameron Carter-Vickers

The young defender is doing well and would relish this cup atmosphere.

CB – Richard Stearman

Only returned from injury recently and so even if others are rested, Stearman may continue to gain fitness here and provide the experience at the back.

Cameron Carter-Vickers

CB – Jake Wright

Another experienced player who will be able to slot straight in and help to keep United’s momentum.

RWB – Kieron Freeman

A chance for one of last season’s impressive performers to come back in and do his stuff.

LWB – Enda Stevens

Enda Stevens has been excellent this season and should continue to start.

RCM – Samir Carruthers

A big opportunity if he’s given the call, needs to impress on the day.

CM – John Lundstram

John Lundstram should start this game in central midfield alongside Carruthers and Fleck.

Billy Sharp

LCM – John Fleck

Played at Derby but should be fresh after a recent suspension had ruled him out of other games.  A big player in this one.

ST – Billy Sharp

Even without Brooks in support and with Clarke rested, the Blades have plenty of options in the forward areas, with Ched Evans also looking for a berth. But good old favourite Billy Sharp may be given the call at Portman Road as he’s someone who can be trusted to take any chance that may come his way.

ST – Clayton Donaldson

Has been in the goals recently and can be trusted to get the job done.
