Quade Cooper is a professional Australian rugby union player born in New Zealand. As a flyhalf, he is a former player for the Queensland Reds and the Melbourne Rebels in the Super Rugby competition in Australia. 

Copper started his rugby career early in his schooling days. He played in all the age-group rugby unions and league sides in Waikato. He toured the United Kingdom as a first eight or full back with Australian Schoolboys in 2005. 

At the age of 18, Cooper made his debut appearance for the Reds in Round 2 of the competition against Crusaders at Jade Stadium. On October 23, it was announced that Cooper had signed a one-year contract with the Melbourne Rebels, being sought out by Rebels coach Dave Wessels. He later joined Kintetsu Liners in Japan ahead of the 2019-20 season.

Celtic fans were in a buoyant mood last month when it was announced star midfielder Tom Rogic has signed a new 5-year deal with the club. The Australian’s contract was due to expire next summer but the new deal runs until 2023.

Many consider him as one of Celtic’s best players, if not the best. Such a statement is not too far from the truth. Last season alone, Rogic played 41 games for the Hoops in all competitions, scoring 8 goals and providing 9 assists. His performance was key for the 7th title in a row that was won by the Glasgow side.

His influence is undeniable. Taking a look back at the 2016/17 season, we see that Rogic again had a great campaign. 12 goals and 6 assists in 37 matches is a lovely achievement. They also have a number of good attackers, who will come in handy. Hence, they are capable of covering distances and troubling the opponent defenders and in doing so, Australia will stand a solid chance of causing a nasty upset or two.

Weaknesses

The biggest problem that could plague Australia is the lack of a streamlined system. Changing coaches at such a crucial time can prove to be their own undoing.

Even in the qualifiers, it was apparent that the team often failed to convert their attacking runs into goals and that could be a real dampener for them against some of the best teams in the world. To make matters worse, their defence is rather shoddy as well.

In fact, he made some sensational saves for Brighton last season and Australia will be counting on him to work his magic in Russia as well.
