Three Players Leeds United Should Target With The club Set For Cash Injection In The Summer

According to reports from the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds United could be set for a heavy spending summer as owner Andrea Radrizzani is on the verge of injecting funds into the club by bringing in new investors.

The Italian, who bought the club outright last summer, is selling a minority stake that was owned by one of the subsidiaries of his own company which would further improve the club’s spending power in the transfer market.

After what has been a majorly underwhelming campaign for the Whites in the EFL Championship, a good summer window is necessary for them to be able to mount a promotion bid next season. The new influx of cash is certainly going to aid them in that regard and here are three players that the Whites should look to spend the money on.

Kyle Bartley (Swansea City)

Central defence is an area that definitely needs reinforcement for Leeds ahead of next season and what better solution than to bring in a tried and tested player in Kyle Bartley.

The Swansea City centre-half spent the 2016/17 campaign on loan with the Whites and forged a scintillating defensive partnership with Pontus Jansson and almost managed to lead his side to a playoff finish.

Bartley hasn’t played much this campaign for the Swans (just 12 appearances across all competitions) owing to injury issues but he is someone that Leeds know will plug the holes in their backline and provide them with a vocal presence on the field.

Lewis Grabban (Bournemouth, on loan at Aston Villa)

The loss of Chris Wood last summer came on to haunt Leeds big time throughout the season as the lack of a prolific goalscorer hurt them bad.

The likes of Pierre-Michel Lasogga, Caleb Ekuban and Jay-Ray Grot were brought in by the club but failed to fill the vacant shoes left behind by Wood. With Lasogga likely to leave, now that his loan spell expires at the end of the campaign, a new striker is a must for the Whites this summer.

Lewis Grabban could prove to be the solution for their goalscoring woes. The Bournemouth striker has spent the entire season out on loan, first with Sunderland before switching to Aston Villa in the winter window. He amassed 20 goals in the Championship, finishing as the second highest scorer behind Matej Vydra.

The 30-year old is an excellent finisher and has the requisite experience and the skillset needed to make a difference for Leeds next season.

Scott Malone (Huddersfield Town)

The 27-year old is someone who has been linked with a move to the Elland Road in the past and Leeds should definitely rekindle their interest in the player come summer.

Malone, having moved to Huddersfield last summer, has found himself warming the benches more often than not, with manager David Wagner preferring Chris Lowe and January signing Terence Kongolo at left-back.

As a result, the Englishman has made just 12 Premier League starts (10 sub appearances), chipping in with one assist.

His performances for Fulham in the 2016/17 campaign when he finished with 6 goals and 6 assists in 42 appearances are evidence enough that he has what it takes to make an impact and will be a major improvement on Leeds’ current options Laurens De Bock and the young Tom Pearce.
