With Only 12 Appearances This Season, Why Is It Time For This Liverpool Star To Find Another Club

Daniel Sturridge

Why A Move Away From Liverpool Would Be Apt For Daniel Sturridge To Re-ignite His Career

Daniel Sturridge is reportedly keen on making an exit from Liverpool in search of more game time in hopes of making Gareth Southgate’s England squad. Sturridge has been sidelined from the starting XI for a while now and lack of playing time is being adjudged as the reason. The player is right in wanting to secure more time on the field for himself. He is nearing 30 and he does not have much time left. So it is important for him to make a move that will benefit him.

It is understandable that Sturridge may not be keen on leaving Liverpool permanently, so a temporary loan move could prove to be a viable option. The 28-year-old has played only 12 times so far this campaign. He has scored 3 goals but has been left on the bench for a good majority of the matches.

He has struggled to fight for a place in Jurgen Klopp’s front three. Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah have established themselves so solidly that there seems to be no room or scope for any other player. Sturridge does not lack talent – he just needs to play more to develop his trade further.

Even for a non-Liverpool fan, it is quite tough to forget the kind of football he played with Luis Suarez at Anfield. They were a force to be reckoned with and he continues to be a figure of importance at Liverpool, hence making a loan move seem like a better option. Quite interestingly, he scored 24 goals that season with Suarez but has only managed 28 overall since 2014.

His entire career has been marred by a string of injuries since then and Klopp just never got a chance to connect with the striker.

The only way Sturridge can hope to turn things around is by playing more on the field. Maintaining form in football is a tricky cycle – you need to play as much as you can on the field and it is tough to push for a start when you have been sidelined for so long. Some clubs are in dire need of attackers – the likes of Newcastle do need quality up front and Sturridge can certainly provide that.

However, this is definitely not the end of the road for a player as talented as Sturridge. He is capable of re-igniting his career and establishing himself as one of the Premier League’s best.
