Wolves beating La Liga giants to sign this out of favour Leicester star would be a fantastic move by Nuno Santo

Why Wolverhampton Wanderers should beat Sevilla to sign Vicente Iborra

According to a report from Football Espana, Sevilla are looking at the possibility of signing Vicente Iborra from Leicester City.

Leicester City signed Vicente Iborra from Sevilla last summer but he couldn’t make much of an impact, playing just 19 times in the Premier League. The 30-year-old has endured an injury-ravaged time so far at the King Power Stadium and he has made just six appearances in all competitions in the 2018/19 campaign, managing only a solitary start in the league from a possible 12.

With regular opportunities in Leicester colours at a premium, Wolverhampton Wanderers should rival Sevilla for the signature of Vicente Iborra in the January transfer window.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have done well so far in the Premier League and sit 11th in the table after 12 league fixtures. The West Midlands club made some eye-catching signings over the summer but not all of them have made an impact.

Vicente Iborra

One player who has made a telling impact at Wolves is Portuguese international, Joao Moutinho. Alongside the classy Ruben Neves, Moutinho has marshalled the midfield really well and put in some fantastic displays, most notably in the 1-1 draw against Manchester United where he scored an absolute screamer.

The 31-year-old has certainly proved any of his critics wrong and at a paltry £5million in the highly inflated transfer window, he has already proved to be one of the bargains of the summer.

Other than Moutinho, Wolves have a couple of exciting midfielders in Ruben Neves and Morgan Gibbs-White. Truth be told, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are a bit light as far as the options in the midfield are concerned. And Spaniard Vicente Iborra could offer some steel as well as depth to the Wolves midfield.

Iborra, 30, is out of favour at Leicester but he could do a brilliant job for Nuno’s Wolves. The Spaniard won three back-to-back Europa League titles with Sevilla and scored 30 goals from the midfield in his four seasons with the club from 2013 to 2017.

He is a defensive-minded midfielder, although the 30-year-old has the knack for scoring goals. His versatility makes him an ideal fit for Nuno.

Due to his leadership skills and winning mentality, Iborra would bring experience to Molineux and add bite to Wolves’ midfield. Still only 30, Iborra has a lot to offer at the highest level and Nuno would do a brilliant job if he manages to land the hugely experienced Spaniard at the Molineux in January.
