Wolves pouncing on the opportunity to sign £16m Man United star would solidify their already strong defence

Why Wolves should make a move for Man United star Marcos Rojo

According to the Sun, Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in making a move for Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo. The newcomers were keen on signing the £16m Argentinian defender in the summer but a move ultimately failed to materialise.

Manchester United are willing to part ways with Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo in order to build the funds to engineer other transfers. Nuno Espirito Santo’s men have made a wonderful start to life under the manager this season.

Wolves are currently at 11th place after picking up a draw against Arsenal last weekend. They have conceded a total of just 12 goals in 12 games so far. They have proven to be the surprise package in the Premier League this season but the Wolves are without a win in their last four games.

Nuno Espirito Santo should definitely make the move for Marcos Rojo. The manager has used a 3-man backline this season consisting the likes of Conor Coady, Willy Boly and Ryan Bennett. Though the trio has been very sturdy so far, Wolves definitely need more men to shore things up further.

Rojo poses an ideal option given that he has plied his trade with Manchester United for the last four years. The Argentine is a highly-rated defender but is yet to make a single appearance for the Red Devils this season.

The 28-year-old is often played as a centre-back but he is also capable of playing as a left-back or a left wing-back. This will surely make him a success at the Molineux.

Rojo possesses superb qualities defensively and offensively. He’s quick on and off the ball, likes to take on other defenders, and whip crosses into the box.

The Argentine is also a crisp passer of the ball, averaging a pass success rate of 90.2% at the World Cup this summer, where he played a crucial role in sending the Albiceleste to the knockout phase. He is also very good in the air. (Stats courtesy – Whoscored)

Wolverhampton Wanderers should definitely make a move for Marcos Rojo. Given that Manchester United have already agreed to part ways with their defender, it should be reason enough for Nuno Espirito Santo to initiate talks.

The newcomers will surely need more men as they aim to establish themselves as a Premier League force.
