Wolves signing this unsung Ligue 1 hero would help them wreak havoc in the PL once again

Wolves opinion: Should Nuno Santo make a move for Lucas Tousart?

According to the Birmingham Mail, Wolverhampton Wanderers have entered the race for Lucas Tousart. The club have made quite an impact in their first season back in the Premier League, flourishing under Nuno Espirito Santo.

One of the many reasons for this was because they made the right moves. First with the likes of Ruben Neves, Diogo Jota, Willy Boly and Benik Afobe on loan, as they all played a part in Wolves winning the Championship.

Then the next season came moves for Joao Moutinho, Ruben Vinagre, Adama Traore and Jonny Otto, alongside loan spells for Raul Jimenez and Leander Dendoncker, both of whom have now joined permanently.

It effectively changed their team and that’s exactly what they need to do going forward. It doesn’t have to be the greatest player in the world but given that they do play Europa League football next season, it has to be someone with considerable top-level talent. Otherwise, the club will struggle with the congestion of fixtures.

That’s exactly why a move for Lucas Tousart makes so much sense, as with time, the young midfielder will be able to make just the right impact. Very talented, Lucas Tousart encapsulates just what Wolves need. He’s technically astute and physically strong, i.e. the perfect example of a modern defensive midfielder.

Not just that, despite being just 22-years old, the Frenchman has already amassed 100 appearances for Olympique Lyon. That includes the Champions League and the Ligue 1, with neither tournament troubling the young midfielder.

He just walks through them, doing his job at a rather alarming efficiency, combing defense and attack into one package. It’s why Tousart has averaged 2.5 tackles, 0.8 interceptions, 1.4 clearances per game.

Not to mention, his passing average of 86.4% and an average of 33 passes per game, which shows just how well he recycles the ball. It’s why he would be the best replacement for Joao Moutinho, but to make things even better, Tousart adds so much more.

He’s determined, hardworking and fit both mentally and physically. That’s what makes him so perfect for the Premier League, and more importantly, so perfect for Nuno Espirito Santo’s style of play.
