Wolves signing this 19-year-old Inter Milan prospect would certainly prove Nuno Santo’s eye for talent

Wolves opinion: Should Nuno Santo make a move for Zinho Vanheusden?

According to the Birmingham Mail, Wolves are leading the race for Inter Milan star Zinho Vanheusden. The 19-year-old is amongst the club’s best prospects and was sent back on loan to get more experience and game time.

However, the report adds that with Vanheusden looking for first-team minutes, a move might be on. Things need to change and if there is one thing that Wolverhampton Wanderers need to fight a battle next season, it’s depth. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side had arguably one of the best seasons that a promoted side could have.

They finished in seventh place and in the final Europa League spot in the Premier League. It may just take them to the qualification stage of the European competition but it’s a European competition nevertheless. And given the fact that a year ago they had just been promoted, it’s a brilliant achievement.

While they did play some exceptional football over the course of the season with the likes of Diogo Jota, Raul Jimenez and even Ruben Neves flourishing, they need new additions.

If they qualify for the group stages of the Europa League and beyond, the tournament is a different animal. Combine that with the added pressure of performing in the Premier League and it isn’t any easier.

One area that they really need new additions is in their back-line, with the club already losing two players. This includes centre-back Kortney Hause and Ethan Ebanks-Landell, which leaves the club with just three first-team stars.

Add that to Nuno Espirito Santo’s preferred 3-5-2 formation and it means that the club will have to dip into the transfer market.

This is where Zinho Vanheusden enters the fray and the 19-year-old would be a fantastic addition. He may have spent the last season and a half on loan at Standard Liege but the 19-year-old would take to the English game perfectly.

His 6’2” frame combined with his maturity and decision making that defies his teenage years, further adds to his value for the club. However, what does make him perfect for Wolves is the fact that Zinho Vanheusden is a modern center-back by all accounts.

More than adept at playing out from the back, the 19-year-old is very comfortable with the ball at his feet. It’s what has made him so successful and arguably one of the best prospects that Inter Milan have, which is why Wolves need to make a move.

That is before things become too tough and the 19-year-old decides to either stay at Inter Milan or opts for a move to a bigger side.

Conclusion

Wolves need new additions especially if they ever want to move forward in the English top tier over the next few years. They’ve made a sensational comeback and things need to continue, especially if the club want to keep moving forward and adding Zinho Vanheusden will help them do just that.
