Wolves signing this struggling 21-year-old Serie A sensation would add some much-needed depth to Nuno’s side

Wolves opinion: Nuno Santo should sign Patrick Cutrone

According to a report in Sky Sports, Wolves are looking to sign AC Milan’s 21-year-old forward Patrick Cutrone to bulk up their attack. Wolves are a team on the rise and have a manager in Nuno Espirito Santo who has been very astute in his dealings since taking the hot seat in the 2016/17 season.

Wolves definitely need more playerS this season to progress from last season after sending Helder Costa out on loan to Leeds United and letting Ivan Cavaleiro go to Fulham.

Last season, Cutrone showed glimpses of the player that he can be but is yet to really push the envelope. With Krzystof Piatek being the main man at the Italian club, Cutrone will find game time hard to come by.

Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota formed one of the best attacking partnerships in the Premier League last season but Nuno Espirito Santo will need someone else to fill their shoes if an injury is to arise.

Cutrone scored 9 goals last season in all competitions and registered two assists in a side that was very bereft of creativity up front. Cutrone also has the right work ethic about him and can be a very dangerous player in and around the box.

Cutrone won’t have to worry about the creativity at Wolves, with their raiding wing-backs and the very talented midfield being capable of providing ample opportunities for the forwards in a very organized counter-attacking system.

Wolves are heading into quite a difficult campaign, with their season starting earlier than most other Premier League teams due to the Europa League qualifiers. If they are to qualify for it, they’ll have even more games to play and a lot of travelling to do.

This makes it imperative that they bulk up their squad for the new season. Wolves also have a chance of breaking into the top-6 or top-4 if possible, with many of the big teams going through a transitional phase. Nuno Santo has formed an identity at Wolves and will want to slowly add some quality to it.

Conclusion

He has a fairly small squad at the moment and isn’t the most flexible manager. Santo can’t expect everything to continue as smoothly as last season, with every side looking to improve, and Cutrone would be a fine addition.
