Wolves signing this top-class £32m attacker could be a massive sign of intent from Nuno Espirito Santo

Why Wolves should certainly go all out for Andre Silva

Nuno Espirito Santo’s Wolverhampton Wanderers are back in the Premier League and will be hoping to make a strong start to their season. The Wolves pretty much ran away with the Championship title last season, with the club scoring a league-high 82 goals as well as conceding a league-low 39 goals.

The manager has already completed a number of signings and it is no surprise that newly promoted clubs now possess the ability to attract top stars.

The manager has already signed Sporting CP goalkeeper Rui Patricio and completed a loan move for Benfica striker Raul Jimenez. The club also subsequently sold Benik Afobe to Stoke City. Wolverhampton have now been linked with AC Milan striker Andre Silva. The Portuguese manager is reportedly interested in signing the striker, who has failed to make the mark at the San Siro.

The 22-year-old made the move to AC Milan just last year, after scoring 21 goals in previous season under Nuno Espirito Santo at FC Porto. He has not been able to replicate that form for the Serie A outfit, with Milan confirming that they are willing to listen to offers.

Galatasaray are also said to be keen to acquire his services but the Wolves could come out on top. Milan signed Silva for a reported fee of around £32million, so the player won’t come cheap. Milan will be aiming to recoup as much of that fee as possible.

Andre Silva made a total of 24 appearances in the Serie A last season, scoring just 2 goals. However, the 22-year-old did manage to score 6 goals in 8 Europa League appearances. The Portuguese striker is good finisher from inside the box and possesses impressive poaching ability.

He also links up well with his fellow teammates and is an accurate passer of the ball. He averaged a pass success rate of 77% in the Serie A last season. He also boasts an average of 1.5 shots per game. The striker is very strong in the air and poses a huge aerial threat from set-pieces and crosses.

As Wolves embark on a new journey this year, they are going to need all the help they can get. Andre Silva would provide Nuno Espirito Santo with considerable strength in the squad and be a huge support to Raul Jimenez. The arrival of Silva could see the Wolves score a lot of goals this season.
