World-class De Bruyne and Aguero – The best and the worst rated Manchester City players vs Leicester

Manchester City 5-1 Leicester City: Incredible Aguero Scores 4 To Send The Foxes Packing

A thrilling second-half display from Sergio Agüero scourged the Foxes as the game ended 5-1, with the Argentine scoring four goals after Raheem Sterling set the Cityzens free with a beautiful opener in the 3rd minutes of the game. As expected, Manchester City dominated possession, attacked and defended with the ball early on.

Leicester looked convincing with the ball and had their fair share of moments. However, in the second half, it was a one-man show. The Manchester club had 70% of the possession, tested Schmeichel with around 11 shots on goal and completed 708 passes with an accuracy of 87%. After an unsatisfying end to the first half, where they had to adjust to Jamie Vardy’s equaliser, they responded in deadly fashion.

Manchester City Player Ratings

Ederson: 8/10

Played the perfect sweeper keeper role and shut Vardy out twice in the game. A well deserved clean sheet.

Kyle Walker: 8.5/10

A real bundle of energy. Walker played from a narrower position, fired in a few crosses and attacked right from the outset. A vital contribution from the Englishman.

Nicholas Otamendi: 6/10

His mistake set Vardy free for the Leicester goal but after that, Otamendi played just the way he has done all season, smartly and powerfully.

Aymeric Laporte: 7/10

Was not as good as his debut evening but Laporte chipped in with long balls and diagonals. He made a couple of brilliant tackles and blocks too.

Oleksandr Zinchenko: 6/10

Zinchenko’s passing was excellent and so was his intent. He shut out any danger or counter-attack. Could have done better for the goal though, as he slid but failed to make prominent contact with the ball.

Ilkay Gundogan: 8/10

He bridged the gap between midfield and attack. Carried the ball forward and added an attacking sense to his game. A lively performance.

Fernandinho: 8.5/10

Broke the opposition attack, marshalled his players and was the master in midfield. A stunning display by the Brazilian.

Kevin De Bruyne: 10/10

Everything that De Bruyne did in this game had a Midas touch to it. Right from his curled cross to Sterling for the first goal till the final ball after the 87th minute, De Bruyne’s passing was just too hot to handle for the Foxes. He was super smooth, decisive and destructive. A hat-trick of assists to sum up his performance.

Bernardo Silva: 8/10

Occupied the right flank, kept hold of the ball well and provided width to the City line-up. Got sharper as the game went on.

Raheem Sterling: 9/10

Electric pace from Raheem Sterling, as simple as that. He never stopped running, caused the early damage with a goal and some of his dribbles were fantastic. Sterling’s vision was spectacular too.

Sergio Agüero: 10/10

From a first half where he could not manage a shot on goal, Agüero broke free in the second and boy he did! Four sensational goals to complete another hat-trick in his career. His movement, desire to get to the ball and finishing improved by a quite a few notches after the break.

Substitutes

Danilo: 7/10

Yet again, very composed defensive work by Danilo. He didn’t allow Mahrez to get the better of him, didn’t commit to challenges and stood up to the task.

Phil Foden: N/A

Didn’t make enough impact on the game as he didn’t play enough.

John Stones: N/A

Came off the bench just to see out the game.
