World-class Salah, Outstanding Mane – Here’s how the Liverpool stars fared in the 4-1 win vs Cardiff

Liverpool Player Ratings vs Cardiff City: Here’s how the Reds fared

It took Liverpool a while to get going, but the Reds inevitably ran riot against Cardiff City. Jurgen Klopp’s men triumphed 4-1 at home against the Bluesbirds as their attack finally clicked into place. Mohamed Salah opened the scoring for Liverpool before Sadio Mane doubled the lead in the second half.

But the Reds conceded their first home goal of the season when Callum Paterson tucked home a deflected cross. Swiss international Xherdan Shaqiri then scored his first Premier League goal for the club, doing a superb body feint before slotting into the bottom corner. Mane then returned with a fourth to all but cap an impressive performance by Klopp’s men.

Liverpool Player Ratings

Alisson Becker (6/10)

Once again, the Brazilian was very much an anonymous figure in the game. He was unable to do anything about the goal.

Alisson

Trent Alexander-Arnold (7/10)

Arnold defended well but was unable to provide much going forward. He guarded his side of the field well.

Dejan Lovren (7/10)

Lovren was defensively solid for the most part although he had one or two nervy moments.

Virgil Van Dijk (8/10)

Another game, another dominant performance from the Dutchman who almost scored his first Premier League goal for the club.

Alberto Moreno (7/10)

A neat and tidy performance from the Spaniard. He provided a couple of dangerous balls into the area as well.

Fabinho (7/10)

Fabinho failed to catch up with the attackers on one or two occasions but he was solid with his distribution. The Brazilian also made a few important tackles.

Virgil van Dijk

Georginio Wijnaldum (6/10)

Gave away the ball on one or two occasions but he was fruitful on the night.

Adam Lallana (6/10)

Not the best performance from Lallana but he was relentless in his running and worked hard in the middle of the park.

Roberto Firmino (6/10)

It really hasn’t been the best of starts for Roberto Firmino. Though impressive in the link-up, he has lacked the end product this season.

Mohamed Salah (9/10)

A superb performance from the Egyptian who scored an important goal and assisted two more. He seems to be in form now.

Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah

Sadio Mane (8/10)

Looked shaky in the first half but turned into a completely different player in the second. Scored two superb goals as well.

Substitutes

Xherdan Shaqiri (7/10)

He has always changed the game after coming on. Shaqiri scored a superb goal and created tons of chances.
