North London giants Arsenal are now on the verge of completing the signing of French international Karim Benzema, as former European champions Real Madrid are set to accept their £40m offer, according to recent reports. The North London side were keen on adding yet another striker to their squad, with manager Arsene Wenger looking to sign the 27-year-old star this summer.

Initially, a £31.3m bid was rejected by the La Liga giants though speculations in Spain now suggest that a new offer of £40m will be made which Real are ready to accept.

Wenger is now considering the former Lyon man his top transfer target and could use his good relationship with Madrid to bring him away to England, though it is not really clear whether Benzema wants to leave the Bernabeu or not.

One thing is certain though, if a deal goes through, Real will use the funds acquired from the sale of their front-man to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Marco Reus.
