Yohan Cabaye: Failed Arsenal Transfer Was Hard To Swallow

Newcastle star Yohan Cabaye openly admitted that his failed transfer to Arsenal was very hard to swallow for him. He also revealed that Joe Kinnear is the only person who can reveal the truth behind the failed transfer.

Arsenal made a bid for the French box-to-box player in the Summer, but the  Magpies rejected the bid as they thought it was no way close to their valuation of the player. It is believed that Cabaye tried to force his move to Arsenal, adding more tension between the club and him. Eventually, he was left out of the squad for the first three games of the campaign by Newcastle manager Alan Pardew and the move collapsed too.

Now, everything seems to be fine again as Cabaye ‘s recent form for the magpies earned him the international call up. Cabaye who is currently training with France was questioned about his Arsenal transfer in a recent interview.

He said,

“Was my failed transfer to Arsenal difficult to swallow? At first, yes.”

“But you have to quickly get focused again, because if you go on thinking about it you have a grudge against a lot of people and that is useless.”

“I quickly forget about it and go back to work.”

When asked about his feelings towards the Newcastle fans who booed him, he replied,

“The fans’ state of mind was due to what the club wanted to let them know,”

“As I didn’t talk and I won’t give any explanation about what happened, they chose their side. That is part of a career, but I bear no grudge against no one. I accept it, it is in the past.”

“The only person who can explain what happened is Joe Kinnear. If he is honest, he will tell it. Otherwise it will not get out of my mouth.”
