Zlatan Ibrahimovic vs Sergio Aguero: Who Will Be The King Striker In EPL?

Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Manchester United) vs Sergio Aguero (Manchester City): Stats Battle

There will be a lot of key battles on the pitch and off it when the two Manchester clubs face off against each other this coming season. Not only do they have new managers at the helm, a host of new players have joined their respective teams and the match should be an interesting one to say the least.

Ilkay Gundogan, Paul Pogba, Nolito, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Eric Bailly are just a few stars who have joined one of the sides but one player does stand out more than others and we are not talking about the French midfielder Paul Pogba.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic would finally have a chance of playing in the Premier League. After all those years when he rejected a move to Arsenal, Zlatan can prove to many that he can play in the Premier League and will be a big hit.

Sergio Aguero would be his greatest rival in the goal scoring department from the blue half of Manchester and it will be interesting to see how the two do in this season.

We compared both their league campaigns from last year using stats from Squawka.com and only looked at the per 90 minute averages for the duo to see who came out on top.

A battle that should be incredible this season

Zlatan and Aguero did not take part in the all the league games for their clubs but they did have a great record of goal scoring. Aguero’s campaign was injury-hit but he still managed to play 30 games. Zlatan though is a creative player and seems to be more in line with the attack of the team.

The Swede mad 38 passes per 90 minutes compared to just 23 for Aguero. The Argentine though was more precise with his passing as he notched up a completion rate of 85% compared to Zlatan’s 79%.

Continuing with the fact that Zlatan also creates goals, the 34-year-old provided 0.46 assists per 90 minutes, almost a goal as an assist every other game, Aguero on the other hand only had 0.08 assists per 90 minutes.

Even in the goal scoring department, Ibra’s 50 goals last season meant that he would find the back of the net 1.34 times in Ligue 1. That is more than a goal per 90 minutes! Aguero though isn’t all that far behind as he managed 0.91 goals per 90 minutes for Manchester City.

One interesting stat that did come out from the comparison is that Aguero actually scored more from headers than Ibra. The Manchester City player managed 0.19 goals from headers per 90 minutes compared to Zlatan’s 0.14, certainly a weird stat to come across.

All in all, it does seem that Zlatan has the beating of Aguero and could be a great signing even if he isn’t the youngest player in the world. We would just have to wait and see how these two superstars perform and it will be a great battle nonetheless. Over to you, Manchester.
